Q: My key does not insert or withdraw easily or it has difficulty turning.
A: First spray the lock with light penetrating oil (such as WD-40). This oil can be found at most hardware stores, but can even be found at some drug stores and supermarkets. Don’t be afraid to spray too much, but have a paper towel handy to pick up the excess. Spray the oil into the keyhole and onto the bolt mechanism. Q: What is a master key?
A: In Short a Master Key is the main key of a group of locks. Regular keys can unlock one matching lock, but the master key is able to unlock all of the locks inside the group. Usually master keys are used by landlords or property managers.
To be able to Master-key a group of locks they all need to be made by the same manufacturer. However in some cases it’s possible to create a master key if the brand is not identical. We also provide more complex systems using sub-Master keys and Grand-Master keys etc.
Q: I want to open all doors in my house with one key, is this possible?
A: Yes. If you have a key that slides into all your locks, then we can simply re-key the locks. If your key does not slide into a certain lock (or locks) then those locks will need to be replaced.
Q: We purchased a new house, should we get new keys?
A: Yes: if you don’t know who else owns a key of your home you are potentially at risk. Think about it, a previous housekeeper, babysitter or a family member of the previous owner may still own a duplicate key to your home. In case you are not 100% sure we advise to either re-key the existing locks, which can be done relatively cheap in most cases, or to completely replace the existing locks.
