Magnetic Locks & Door Buzzer Systems
Need to control who walks through your door?
Buzz-in entry is the standard for a reason. Does this sound like your building?
- Front desk needs to see visitors before letting them in?
- Medical office, daycare, or law firm that can’t have walk-ins wandering the halls?
- Apartment or office building with a shared entry door?
- Gate or back door that should only open for staff?
A buzz-in system pairs an electrified lock — usually a magnetic lock (maglock) or an electric strike — with a release button, intercom, or card reader at the desk. Staff see or speak to the visitor, press a button, and the door releases. Simple for your team, invisible to customers, and a hard stop for anyone who shouldn’t be inside.
Alamo Key & Lock provides trusted Magnetic Lock and Door Buzzer locksmith services in Houston and Surrounding areas — design, installation, repair, and code-compliant egress for offices, clinics, schools, gates, and multi-tenant buildings.

Maglock or Electric Strike — What’s the Difference?
A maglock is an electromagnet on the frame holding a steel plate on the door — hundreds of pounds of holding force, ideal for glass storefront doors and gates where cutting into the frame isn’t practical. An electric strike replaces the strike plate and releases the existing latch — it keeps the door usable with a key even when power is out. Which one is right depends on your door material, traffic, and fire code.
For this reason, be sure to consult with the Alamo Key & Lock locksmith about your building’s exit requirements — egress rules for electrified doors are strict, and we install to code.
WHAT’S INCLUDED IN A BUZZ-IN SYSTEM?
Everything between the visitor and the unlocked door.
The electrified lock on the door, a release button or intercom at the reception desk, safe-exit hardware on the inside (motion sensor, push-to-exit button, or panic bar), and battery backup so the building stays secure through a power blip. We also repair existing systems — doors that won’t release, magnets that lost holding force, buzzers that stopped buzzing.
Growing past a single buzz-in door? Card readers, fobs, and keypads scale the same wiring into full access control systems with per-employee credentials and audit trails. Pedestrian gates and parking entries use the same hardware — we electrify those too.
