Commercial Rekeying

Who has keys to your business right now?

If you can’t answer that with certainty, it’s time to rekey. Consider:

  • An employee left — on good terms or bad — and never returned their key?
  • Just signed a lease and the landlord “thinks” he gave you all the copies?
  • Keys handed out over the years to cleaners, vendors, and contractors?
  • One master key floating around that opens every door in the building?

Rekeying changes the pins inside your existing locks so old keys stop working and a brand-new key takes over. Nothing about the door or the hardware changes — which is why rekeying costs a fraction of replacing locks, and why it’s the single most effective security step a business can take after any staff change or move-in.

Alamo Key & Lock provides trusted Commercial Rekeying locksmith services in Houston and Surrounding areas — offices, retail storefronts, restaurants, warehouses, medical suites, and multi-tenant buildings.

Rekey or Replace — Which Do You Need?

If your locks are commercial grade and working smoothly, rekey them — you keep the hardware and simply retire every old key. If the hardware itself is worn, builder-grade, or failing, that’s when lock replacement makes sense. An honest assessment is part of every visit; we’ll tell you which doors need which.

WHEN SHOULD A BUSINESS REKEY?

The rule of thumb: any time key control is lost, rekey the same week.

Move-ins and lease turnovers, employee departures, lost or stolen key rings, after a break-in or attempted break-in, or after any contractor project where keys changed hands. Property managers often put rekeying on a schedule — every tenant turnover, automatically.

While we’re rekeying, we can also set up a proper master key system — one key for the owner that opens everything, individual keys for staff that open only what they should. And if you want to stop handing out metal keys entirely, ask about keyless entry systems.

We rekey on-site, same day, across the entire Houston metro. Most offices are done in a single visit with new keys cut on the truck — and every old key in circulation becomes a souvenir. See our Commercial Locksmith page for the full range of business services.
